How to handle disappointments and traumas? Leave them behind and move on. It is important to forgive yourself and others and let go, decisively and deliberately. The worst you can do for yourself is to carry the weight of your dead past and suffer from its weight. – Mohanji

Yoga can be a powerful tool for cultivating forgiveness and letting go of negative emotions. Here are some ways you can incorporate yoga into your journey of forgiveness:

Practice mindfulness: Start by practicing mindfulness through yoga asanas (poses) and pranayama (breathing exercises). Focus on being present in the moment, observing your thoughts and emotions without judgment. Heart-opening poses: Incorporate heart-opening yoga poses such as

Camel Pose (Ustrasana),

Bridge Pose (Setu Bandhasana),

or Fish Pose (Matsyasana).

These poses can help release tension and open your heart, allowing you to cultivate feelings of compassion and forgiveness towards yourself and others.

Breathing: Utilize pranayama techniques such as deep belly breathing or alternate nostril breathing to calm the mind and release negative emotions. Breathing exercises can help you create space for forgiveness and let go of resentment or anger.

Meditation: Integrate meditation into your yoga practice to cultivate a sense of inner peace and acceptance. Set aside time to sit quietly, focus on your breath, and allow thoughts and emotions to arise without attachment. Through regular meditation, you can develop greater self-awareness and compassion towards yourself and others, facilitating the forgiveness process.

Self-reflection: Take time after your yoga practice to journal or reflect on your experiences. Explore any feelings or emotions that arise during your practice, and consider how you can work towards forgiveness both on and off the mat.

Remember, forgiveness is a process, and it may take time and patience to fully let go of past hurts. Be gentle with yourself throughout this journey and trust that your yoga practice can support you in cultivating forgiveness and emotional healing.
