We Are The Ones We’ve Been Waiting For

Two years ago, I was spending a few months volunteering in South Africa. I was on the quest for the higher purpose of living and serving food to poor families. This made me realize that this world will need more than people meditating and seeking inner peace. I was happy to enjoy Mohanji’s visit to South Africa and was honoured to receive his initiation into Kriya, a sacred technique that also requires a non-violent lifestyle. 

This is what happened on the 11th of November, 2018:  11.11. at 11 o’clock was a very auspicious date and time. An armistice document was signed on this date which is now known as Armistice Day because it ended WWI.  I remember Mohanji was preparing to go and launch a global movement that would promote peace, goodness, compassion, and all the values that represent the highest possibilities of our human expression. I remember entering the room when someone mentioned the World Consciousness Alliance (WCA). The mere name caught my attention and Mohanji said that he already spoke about this concept yesterday and would speak about it again only if there was someone present who didn’t have the opportunity to hear about this the day before.  I was the only one who did not attend the previous Satsang so I raised my hand with hesitation, thinking that there was no way he would repeat the story just because of me. Then, he looked at me and said that he would share again if I were interested. His story about the vision for the World Consciousness Alliance being created to establish a world of kind and compassionate beings living in unity and higher consciousness “got me” completely! I was crazy with excitement when Mohanji asked me to join him, along with a few fellows from the Mohanji Foundation, to go to the official launching of the WCA.

I remember entering the building and being welcomed by members of the African Parliament. In the room where Mohanji signed the launching of the WCA, was a big picture of Albert Luthuli, Nelson Mandela and Mahatma Gandhi. The title was, “The Gift of Love and Peace”, an “Iconic Trinity” epitomizing Love and Peace.

“Three of the greatest leaders of our time, whose personal sacrifices and suffering in the face of adversity, challenged humankind’s inhumanity to humankind. Their noble quest for human rights, dignity and liberation exceeded all bounds. And so, the “Hand of God” reaches through the clouds symbolizing a fine day – the day he blessed humanity with this “Trio”, three of the noblest men to have graced our beautiful earth in the midst of strife, turmoil and human suffering.”, Ronald Harrison. 

I read those words of this famous African painter and they had an incredible effect on me.  I thought at that very moment, how much I was blessed to experience being with Mohanji who actually shares the same qualities as the “Iconic Trinity”, doing the same thing for our world today. Mohanji is bringing light to humankind. As Mohanji was reading my thoughts, he smiled at me warmly and then said, “How do you feel Sanja? You will be a part of history.”  I felt like I was walking in the clouds. I knew that he was referring to the huge relevance and great impact that WCA will have in our world.

Since its inception that day, I followed the work of the WCA and in 2020 I had the opportunity to speak with Andra Baylus, the president of the WCA and Arvind Ananthan who invited me to join the WCA Board of Directors. Even though the name of the organization sounds very lofty, currently we are a group of people who do all of the work involved ourselves.  We know what we want to achieve and we are not waiting until we recruit more people. We are relying upon our own talents, previous experience and skills to get the work done. There is no hierarchy. The only criteria for involvement is how someone can contribute to the mission of the WCA – to raise the vibration of Mother Earth by promoting positivity, harmony and respect for all life. Humanity is really our religion and Ahimsa – non-violence – is our approach.

As Mohanji once said: “It is now time to remind humans that it is our responsibility to raise the frequency of this generation of human beings on Earth. The frequency that represents the highest possibilities of our human existence rests on our consistent actions of compassion, of sharing and caring, unconditional love, kindness, selflessness, non-violence, truthfulness and righteousness.”

There is nothing to wait for. We are the ones we’ve been waiting for. We have the responsibility to improve this planet and to remind all of the humanity of our Human qualities.
