Bruna is a stray dog, mixed races, she is happy now and lives in Belgium.
She even has her own Instagram profile.
Her story and can be example what man can do for his best friend.
In 2014, in a chase on stray dogs in Romania, when many dogs were poisoned, captured or killed, Bruna was saved, chipped and sent to Belgium.
Anja, a girl who had given her a home, paid a veterinary check and a passport, and arranged to bring Bruna from Bucharest to Belgium.
She found out about her through a friend who volunteered in the organization for animal rights.

According to data from ESDAW EU, foundation dealing with the protection and monitoring of the rights of abandoned animals, more than 150 million strays is on the streets of the EU.

Lack of laws, high-quality strategies and poor informing of citizens are proof that none of the states of Europe have taken this tragedy seriously.
The worst situation is in Bulgaria, Romania, the former Yugoslavia, Spain and Portugal, although other countries are facing similar crises.
It’s not just about mixed races. In Spain and Portugal, the problem is pure-blooded dogs that are bought for hunting or racing. After they did not meet the criteria of the owner, they were released into the streets.
South Spain is filled with abandoned cats. Systematic and long-term actions do not exist.
Fight for animal rights is present ONLY in the non-governmental sector. Individuals and groups on the basis of volunteer work make the impossible possible.
The whole network of very dedicated people does this job. They rescue dogs and cats, heal them, take them to veterinarians, find temporary homes and communicate with future owners who live in economically more stable countries, such as Belgium, Denmark, Norway or Sweden.
Often they have no money, but they do not give up on work.
They even transport them. They organize joint actions.
A good example are people from the former Yugoslavia. Regardless of the fact that these countries have recently fought each other, volunteers are united in the idea of saving the lives of the weak.
Another wonderful example comes from Turkey.
During the winter, strays of Istanbul are allowed to sleep in shopping centers. Each animal gets a blanket and a piece of cardboard on which it can sleep.

The “management of strays” is not only a bad but also a cruel attempt to solve this problem.
The money that is drawn through various EU funds is not for the benefit of animals, but just the opposite. It finances suspicious jobs that very often imply cruelty to animals. Benefits of everything have only individuals in whose pocket ends the money intended for strayers.
Abandoned dogs and cats are closed in the shelters, where they live worse than in the streets. They get food only once or twice a week, and often inflict physical abuse.

I spoiled her for a reason and I enjoy it. I remember when she came, she was frightened and scared of every sound.
Today she is a different dog.
We have to accept the fact that animals also feel, suffer, rejoice …
But they depend on us. That’s the key.
I recently read an interesting quote from one spiritual leader. He says, “The righteous duty is adding value on earth, and the greatest dharma is nonviolence.”
HUMAN DUTY! That’s the model I’d love to see everywhere.
