Asthma

by Staša Mišić

What causes asthma?

Breathing problems like asthma and allergies are common nowadays and affect the young and old alike. They may be caused due to genetics, pollution, weak lungs, or poor lifestyle. These conditions are psychosomatic and can be triggered by wrong food habits, stress, and climatic conditions.

Prevention and regulation:

Asthma and other breathing-related issues can be overcome by practicing certain yoga postures regularly. Along with the practice, if one can avoid certain foods like dairy, chilled items, and fruits like jack fruit and banana which are mucus-forming, one can have healthy lungs and lead a happy life.

It is crucial to note that natural remedies such as yoga are not substituted for medication, especially for acute asthma symptoms. However, daily practice of specific yoga postures and breathing techniques can considerably reduce your chances of an asthma attack and may even help you get rid of it.

Yoga postures that can help regulate asthma:

1. Virabhadrasana 1
2. Uttana  Mandukasana

3. Ardha Matsyendrasana

4. Marjarasana

5. Ustrasana

Pranayama: Nadi Sodana, Bhramari
